A CCTV remote monitoring centre is a control room which houses specially trained operators able to react immediately to any incident presented to them.

CCTV images that are displayed to them on a bank of screens, which provide complete coverage of the site which is under surveillance.

The operators have complete control over the system and it is down to them to assess the situation. Is the person appearing on screen a customer, a member of staff, someone making deliveries – or is there a criminal act about to take place?

Very often these questions can be answered by the centre’s audio facilities which allow warnings to be sounded to the people in question. An intercom link is also sometimes incorporated for authorised enquiries.

State of the art detection and camera systems are located around the site (remotely) and within seconds of activation by an intruder a camera will focus on the cause and simultaneously transmit images to the CCTV remote monitoring centre, where the operators can then take the appropriate course of action.

If required, the police can then be contacted immediately and directed to the right location with the utmost speed.

And this is in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year.
