CCTV cameras resolution are measured in TV Lines, abbreviated to TVL. A CCTV camera’s resolution is essentially the fineness of the detail that can be found when viewing an image and the higher the number of TV Lines then the higher the quality of the images the camera will be able to capture.

However, CCTV quality is not solely down to TV Lines and the video processing and storage capacity of the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) can also significantly affect the images from a CCTV camera. When buying a CCTV camera ensuring that you get a camera with a good number of TVL and sufficient storage should see you have a system that is effective and producing good quality images.
