Ron Perlman, star of Hellboy and BBC’s new drama The Capture has spoken of his shock at the level of CCTV in London.

Speaking after appearing in the six-part drama about the murky world of misinformation, Perlman said, “In London there are surveillance cameras everywhere you look. In the most private places you are being surveilled.”

The UK is one of the most heavily-surveilled countries in the world having 630,000 CCTV cameras in London and, despite expressing surprise, Perlman admitted he could see the reasoning.

“I guess in order to be secure and free you need to give certain things up. And part of that is some privacy.”

The Capture begins on BBC1 Tuesday 10th September 2019
